About Italy
As a nation, Italy has probably one of the richest histories, the impression of the Romans and other civilizations still remain today. Rome especially is covered with relics from the Roman Empire in the middle ages, such as the Colosseum.
Italy is also often regarded as one of the most picturesque and beautiful countries in Europe and the world. The breathtaking northern mountains are in stark contrast to the flat, wine grove covered land in central and more southern Italy.

Italian Geography Climate
The main Italian Peninsula extends into the Mediterranean with Italy's other two major iislands Sicily and Sardinia forming the distinctive kicking boot shape.
The Italian climate is extremely diverse with huge differences between the continental northern areas, when compared to the Mediterranean southern regions. The high altitude mountain ranges and rivers are often covered in snow in the winter months, whereas the most southern areas do not drop below 15°C. During the winter it can be -2°C and snowing in Milan, while it is +18°C in Palermo.
Italian Culture
Many elements of Italian culture are relatively modern. This has resulted in much of the music, art and religion that is popular in Italy having a short and rather brief history. Although the historic civilisation of the Romans originated from Italy there is relatively little influence from that time in modern Italian culture. However the Romans did leave behind a developed infrastructure of roads, buildings and water systems which are often still in use today.
Italy has been the birth place of many influential people from throughout history, including Galileo and Leonardo da Vinci; the painter of the "Mona Lisa".
